I believe in alchemy and what takes place amongst the materials is just that; a picture arrives almost of its own making.  My work is predominantly about its own making- the process of its development- lyrical and magic.

My work is a slowed down process, one that is about being careless and mindful all at once.  I always approach work as though there was much invested in it because there is: lots of research, experiment, and accident.

Painting is about trying to convince others that you are right- right about everything.  There is a lot at stake here: for the artist, the viewer, and the subject. Therefore, painting should always have something significant to say and contribute.

Painting is a storytelling tool.  A painted picture has many layers and many narratives interwoven at once.  A painting will simultaneously tell the story of the artist, the viewer, the subject, and its own making.
